Mount Kailash Manasarovar Tour is an overland journey that offers not only an adventurous trip but also a sacred tour to the amazing land of Mount Kailash. The striking rocky cliffs along with the gorgeous waterfalls with the spectacular views of gigantic snowy peaks on the way are awesome. Mt. Kailash, in the Tibetan language, is considered the Precious Jewel of Snows and is the home of the deity Chakrasamvara. This Mt. Kailash is a holy place and once the great Titan saint-poet Milarepa said “There is no other place that is more powerful for practice, more blessed or more marvelous than this. May all pilgrims and practitioners be welcome here…” The Mt. Kailash Manasarovar Tour organized by Step on Himalaya lets you enjoy the countryside of Nepal and Tibet in one trip and lets you experience the diverse cultures and traditions.
Kailash Manasarovar Tour is named after the two holy places i.e. Mt. Kailash and Manasarovar Lake. In Hinduism, they believe Mt. Kailash is the home of Lord Shiva and in Buddhism, they believe it is the home of the Buddha Demchok and Bon. The pilgrims will do the parikrama (circumambulating) around the mountain on foot with the faith that this religious deed will bring good fortune to their lives. While Manasarovar Lake is the highest freshwater lake in the world at an elevation of 4500 meters. There is the belief that dipping or bathing in this lake or drinking the water from this lake will wash away all the sins of them.
Kyirong is the entry point of this tour which is situated in the northwest region of Nepal, at Rasuwagadhi, Langtang National Park. The flow of tourists to Mt. Kailash and Manasarovar Lake is always in huge volume and hence the Chinese Government opened the permit for this Kyirong border in 2016. But due to some reasons, it was officially opened in 2017 only. There is an alternative route to reach Mt. Kailash i.e. Hilsa border which is the famous entry and exit point for especially Kailash tour and western Tibet tour. There are other ways to Mt. Kailash from Lhasa too. But since it’s a little expensive to fly to Lhasa, so many travelers opt for this tour via Kyirung. Step on Himalaya team will look after your budget while planning and organizing this tour for you.
