While grading the Khopra Ridge Trek, is easy to moderate and a perfect trek for novice trekkers and also for those who want to trek with families and friends with children or the elderly as well. Fitness always matters to trekkers. Every trekker needs a level of fitness but it doesn’t mean a novice trekker cannot go trekking without any training. So, if you are opting for any trek, it would be best to be in good shape with daily exercises or at least climb stairs without difficulty or brisk walks or jogs to improve your cardio. Maintain your pace and set yourself to walk for at least 6 hours daily and be able to ascents and descents. The highest point reached during the Khopra Ridge trek is Khayer Lake, at 4500m. So, one must be physically fit enough to attain this level without any health issues. It is always advised for trekkers to be prepared for the changes in high altitude such as headaches, fatigue, shortness of breath, etc. Better to practice hiking or walking or running or cycling daily before starting the trek. It helps improve your endurance and build muscle strength.
Khopra Ridge Trek is among the few trails that can draw your attention to spend your holiday time in Nepal. The beauty of this trek is letting you explore around without maddening crowds. This off-the-beaten trek has 2 variations in reaching the Khopra Ridge. Nayapul is the starting point for many trekking to the Annapurna region. Being the main trailhead, there is frequent public transport such as buses and jeeps.
By flight: The quickest way to reach Pokhara from Kathmandu is by flight which is about 25-30 minutes and offers stunning aerial views of the mountains.
By road: Kathmandu and Pokhara are well-connected by roadways which take around 6-7 hours of road journey. The scenic views of the countryside are mind-blowing. Tourist buses and private vehicles are readily available for travel between the two cities.
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m/4,593ft) - Transfer to hotel & Trip Preparation
Day 2: Fly to Pokhara - 25 to 30-minute flight or Road trip to Pokhara about (6 to 7 hours)
Day 3: Pokhara to Kimchi (2 to 3 hours) then 6 to 7 hours trek to Tadapani (2,600m/8,528ft) via Ghandruk (1,940m/6,365ft)
Day 4: Trek to Dobato (3,350m/10,990ft) - 4 to 5 hours trek
Day 5: Trek to Khopra Ridge or Khopra Danda (3,660m/12,006ft) - 6 to 7 hours trek
Day 6: Hike to Khayer Lake (4,500m/14,762ft) and return to Khopra Ridge - 8 to 10 hours trek
Day 7: Trek to Swanta Village (2,214m/7,263ft) - 5 to 6 hours trek

Trekking permits such as TIMS (Trekkers Information Management System) permit and ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Permit) are essential to begin trekking in the Annapurna region. Regarding the accommodation and food during the Khopra Ridge Trek, it will be included in the package cost and managed accordingly. So, do not stress out about it. The salary and expenses of the trekking guide and porter also is included in the package as per the requirement of the trekkers. Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be transferred to the hotel by the representative of Step on Himalaya in a private, air-conditioned vehicle. On reaching the hotel, get freshened up, rest, and prepare for the Khopra Ridge trip. If you want to buy clothes, equipment, or gear, strolling around the shops near the hotel is a good idea. Rest for the day. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Breakfast was then followed by the transfer to the Domestic airport to catch the flight to Pokhara which is about a 30-minute flight. Reminder again, you can reach Pokhara by road which is about 6-7 hours from Kathmandu. Whether aerial or roadways, the scenes on the way to Pokhara are mesmerizing. After reaching Pokhara, you will be transferred to the hotel, overnight stay at Pokhara and relax to start your trek to Tadapani via Ghandruk the next day
It will be around 2 to 3 hours drive from Pokhara to Kimchi. Then you start walking toward Tadapani from Kimchi via Ghandruk. Ghandruk is a beautiful, traditional Gurung village, from where you can have a mesmerizing view of Annapurna massifs and adjoining snowy peaks. It is about a 6 to 7 hours walk to reach Tadapani, traversing the lush vegetation and enjoying the view of beautiful rhododendrons. The colorful prayer flags are the signs that you have arrived at Tadapani village. Walk towards the teahouse and stay overnight. Rest for the day.
Early breakfast and start walking to Dobato. You climb up passing through the jungle filled with beautiful rhododendrons during spring. It takes 4 to 5 hours to reach Dobato. The ups and downs offer inspiring views of soaring mountains. After reaching Dobato, make your way to the teahouse and relax. Stay overnight and early to bed as you have to wake up to catch the sunrise.
An early wake-up call to hike up to the Mulde point to catch the mindblowing view of the Himalayan sunrise. It is an astonishing sight you will never want to miss. After enjoying the magnificent view, you head back to the teahouse and take breakfast. Now you get ready for the famous Khopra Ridge. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the Dhaulagiri Himalayan ranges on the way. As this is the off-the-beaten trekking trail, you will not feel much crowd. Enjoy the peaceful nature. After walking for about 6 to 7 hours, you finally end up at the Khopra Danda. Get some relaxation and tea after reaching the teahouse. Rest for the day. Stay overnight.
Early call at dawn for hiking to Khayer Lake. The Khayer Lake is situated at a height of about 4500m from where the magical sun-rising view over the Himalayan ranges can be seen. To reach there, you walk up to the slopes of the towering Annapurna massif. Once, you reach there, you are blessed with an amazing view of the Dhaulagiri range, Annapurna South, Nilgiri, Fang, Himchuli, and other adjoining peaks. Do not miss this moment to grab in the cameras. Dipping in the Khayer Lake cleanses your sins and purifies your soul. This is the belief of the local inhabitants. After spending some time, you will go back following the same track to the teahouse. Massage your calves after the long tiring hike. Stay overnight at Khopra Ridge.
Another day at the Khopra Ridge. Get ready to trek to Swanta village after taking breakfast. There is a steep downhill. So, be careful while walking down to Swanta village which is the destination for the day. Have adventurous fun with the stunning landscape with terraced farmlands at the backdrop of the snowcapped Himalayas. Once you reach Swanta village, rest at the teahouse and mingle with the locals. Enjoy the locality and the traditional foods. Stay overnight.
Ghorepani is another beautiful village on the route of the Khopra Ridge trek. You walk past the paddy fields and the dense forest on the way to Ghorepani. You will pass by a local water mill and then after crossing a swaying suspension bridge on the way, you will head towards Chittre village. Ghorepani is a popular trekking route so you will meet many trekkers. Keep walking on the trail, you will arrive at the village of Ghorepani – which literally means "horse water" in Nepali. In the past, there was a watering hole for caravans who traveled through the ancient Tibet trade route. After arriving at Ghorepani, head to the teahouse, rest, and stay overnight.
Today's trail is mostly descending as you walk down to end up at Poon Hill for the magnificent sunrise views. Poon Hill is considered to be one of the best and most popular Himalayan viewpoints of Nepal. You will be enthralled with the charismatic views of the snowy peaks of Dhaulagiri, Gangapugna, Annapurna massif, Hiunchuli, etc. After walking down to Ghorepani, you will take breakfast and make your way to Hile, from where you will hop onto the vehicle and drive to Pokhara. Upon reaching Pokhara, check in to the hotel and rest for the day or stroll around the souvenir shops or walk down the Lakeside. Stay overnight.
In the morning, after taking breakfast, you can go for a boat ride or cycle in the streets of Pokhara. Also, a short tour of major places like Davis Falls, Seti Gorge, Gupteshwor Cave, etc. can be done. Then you will be escorted to the domestic airport of Pokhara to board the flight to Kathmandu. If you choose a road trip by bus, you will not be able to do any activities in Pokhara as you have to catch the bus early morning. Reaching Kathmandu, head to the hotel, and then stay overnight. Walking around the main places of Kathmandu is a good pastime in the evening.
The final day in Nepal with the early morning breakfast. You will be then transferred to the Tribhuvan International Airport at least 3 hours before the scheduled time of the flight. Here ends the service of the Step on Himalaya but we will always be ready to welcome and serve you again.
