Yala Peak lies close to the Nepal-Tibet border and the northeast of the Kyanjin Gompa of Langtang Valley. The trip to Yala Peak will start from Syabru Bensi passing through many beautiful settlements, lush vegetation, meadows, the famous Cheese factory, gorgeous waterfalls, astonishing glaciers, and dusty roads. There are many Gompas, colorful mani walls, and beautiful chortens surrounded by multi-colored prayer flags. En route, you will be enchanted with the striking views of Dorje Lakpa, Gang Chempo (6388 m), Langtang Lirung (7246 m), and Shishapangma (8046 m). The Kyanjin Ri (4600m) and the Tserko Ri (4984m) are the perfect places for acclimatization prior to the Summit day.
About 2 weeks an adventurous walk to Yala Peak is always a memorable one. Trekking through Langtang National Park makes it more distinguished. This Langtang National Park is the home to varieties of wildlife like Himalayan Black Bears, Musk Deer, Himalayan Thar, Ghorals, Snow leopards, Red Pandas, Langurs, etc. and the trees like Oak, Maple, Birch, Blue pine, Rhododendron, etc. The climbers to Yala Peak rarely encounter wildlife as they will be passing by the Langtang National Park. As you go up higher, you will feel the chilling weather of Yala Peak. One must be aware of the Altitude Mountain Sickness. The first day of Yala Peak Climbing – Entry to Nepal via Kathmandu. After landing in Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by the representative of Step On Himalaya and then taken to the designated hotel for the stay. Freshening up and relaxing. A short discussion about the further program of the upcoming two weeks to make it memorable for the lifetime. Overnight stay at the hotel.
You will be taken around the Kathmandu city for a sightseeing tour. If we can manage some time, you will be having a brief discussion regarding the trip and the last-minute preparations. So, if you have escaped anything from your trekking list, you can get here in Kathmandu while wandering around. After breakfast, you will be taken in a private comfy vehicle and see places like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath stupa, Boudhanath stupa, etc. After the sightseeing, take rest, stretch your legs for the trip following day onwards. Overnight in Kathmandu.
After early morning breakfast, you will get into a tourist coach. This is the lengthy part of the trip on road but the scenic drive will enchant you seeing the glittering snowy peaks, greeneries, bubbling rivers and waterfalls on the way. Upon arriving at Syabru Bensi, you will check into the teahouse and take rest for the early start tomorrow. Overnight in Syabru Bensi.
1st official day of Yala Peak Climbing. After having breakfast, you will start walking from Syabru Bensi following the trails of Bhote Koshi Khola. This river originates in Tibet and the Langtang River. The trekking trail progresses towards the Bamboo village that is popular for the resident of red pandas. After walking for hours, you will reach the Lama Hotel and check into a teahouse for the overnight stay.
It is tedious walk today from Lama Hotel to Langtang Village ascending up to the mountain that rewards you with the fanciful scenery of the dense forests with pink and white Rhododendrons, Oak trees, Hemlock, etc. You will come across the Ghodatabela at the halfway of today’s walk ending up to the Langtang Village. There are flat-topped Tibetan styled houses here. Overnight in Langtang village.
There is a large Mani wall at the start of the trek from Langtang Village destining to Kyanjin Gompa today. On the way, you will pass through Mundu village which is one of the important landmarks. As you walk in, you will be treated with the gorgeous panoramic scene of the snowy Himalayan peaks. After arriving at Kyanjin Gompa, you will feel the atmosphere is getting thinner. Here the acclimatization starts.
You can loiter around nearby areas of Kyanjin Gompa. Today is the rest day and you are given this day to adjust according to the altitude. You can go to visit the Kyanjin Gompa that is the oldest monastery and the place is named after this monastery. Here is a well-known cheese factory. If you want to stretch up to a little and utilize the day, you can go for a short hike to Kyanjin Ri just behind the village providing the amazing views of the Langtang Himalayas.
Today’s destination is Yala Peak Base Camp. It’s about 7-hour hike to the Yala Peak Base Camp from where you will enjoy the striking views of the Ganchenpo, Tserko Ri, Naya Kang and Yala peak. As soon as you reach the Yala Peak Base Camp crossing the rocky glacier, you will have a basic training on the climbing techniques given by the Climbing Guides. This basic training will mainly include the ways to use the climbing gears like ice pick, ropes, crampons and harness. Overnight stay in the camp in the Yala Peak Base Camp.
Early wake up so that you can make to the summit of Yala Peak on time. It is about six hour round trip trek. If you start early, you will have plenty of time to stay at the top of Yala peak and take pictures of the astounding views of the eye-catching Himalayas like Naya Kang, Dorje Lakpa, Shishapangma, Ganchenpo, Langtang Lirung, Tserko Ri, etc. After grabbing the moments into photos, you will gradually descend and another overnight stay at Yala Peak Base Camp.
While descending towards Kyanjin Gompa from Yala Peak Base Camp, you will get stunned by the different look of the mountains.
You will gradually descend the mountain from Kyanjin Gompa heading towards the Lama Hotel. There is abundant Alpine floras that are blooming like spreading carpets. It will take about four hours to reach Lama Hotel. Upon arrival at Lama Hotel, rest and overnight stay.
The last day of walk in the mountains. It will take about six hours from Lama Hotel to reach Syabru Bensi. On the way back, you will visit the Chilime Hydropower Plant of Sherpa gaon that provides the powers to the surrounding areas. You can have a great farewell party here with the climbing guides and other staff. Relax for the day and stretch out the legs. Overnight stay at Syabru Bensi.
You will take early morning breakfast and head back to Kathmandu from Syabru Bensi in a tourist coach enjoying the final glimpse of the soaring mountains between the stunning natural beauties. As soon as you arrive at Kathmandu, you will be heading back to the hotel for rest and relaxation.
The choice is fully yours. Either relax or go for a sightseeing tour in Kathmandu. The major places you will be visiting are Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath and Pashupatinath. In the evening, you can stroll around the local markets, buy souvenirs or just rest at the hotel. Last overnight stay in Kathmandu.
The representative from Step On Himalaya will be waiting for you at the lobby of the hotel to take you to the International Airport at least 3 hours before the flight schedule.
