Lumbini Buddhist Circuit Tour
Trip Overview
Trip at a Glance
The Lumbini is one of the world’s famous pilgrimages of Buddhism. The birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha, Lumbini, has become a popular tourist destination nowadays. Many travelers visit not only for religious purposes but also for cultural tours and to boost the archeological significance of the Lumbini. This place has given birth to Buddhism, and Lord Gautam Buddha had been always preaching for peace and prosperity to the world. Hence, many travelers come here in search of it. There are many Gumbas built here by different nations as a tribute to Lord Buddha. As Lumbini has been one of the major historical sites in the world, UNESCO enlisted Lumbini as World Heritage Site in 1997 A.D. Situated in Kapivastu district in the south-western part of Nepal in the plane lands, Lumbini is always a center of attraction for all kinds of travelers.
Every year, about 100,000 travelers visit Lumbini. The main centers of attraction are Ashoka Pillar, Maya Devi temple and Maya Devi pond (Puskharni pool), and many other monasteries. For a brief history of Lumbini, it is believed that on the way to the maternal home, Queen Maya Devi dipped into the pond before giving birth to Lord Buddha. She had labor pains and delivered Lord Buddha under the tree. Lord Buddha announced that it was his final reincarnation and walked seven steps. The Lotus bloomed over the footprints. Siddhartha Gautam was the real name of Lord Buddha. He was the prince of the Shakya dynasty. Later he attained enlightenment and started preaching about peace and prosperity in the world. Many followers of Lord Gautam Buddha then went to different parts of the world spreading the message of love, peace, and harmony.
During the Lumbini tour, you can see the ancient remnants of the ruins of Buddhist monasteries, palaces, etc. The Maya Devi pond still exists there. A small grove of Peepal trees in the garden, the Sacred Bo tree, is still present and is well preserved. The Maya Devi Temple lying close to the Ashoka Pillar was built about 2000 years ago. Different countries like Thailand, Japan, and Sri Lanka have constructed many monasteries and shrines here in Lumbini. The Lumbini Garden will be the International Center for Buddhism Studies and Buddhist Pilgrims in the near future. Step on Himalaya has this Lumbini Tour package for 5 nights and 6 days.
