During this 12-day trek to EBC (Everest Base Camp) & Kalapatthar, an expert trekking guide from Step On Himalaya will accompany you from start to finish. Leaving from Kathmandu, you will arrive at the famous Lukla Airport & town, the main gateway to Everest. Then, you will continue the trek towards the sacred Tengoboche village to visit the Tengboche monastery, pass through Lobuche, Gorek Shep, then to Everest Base Camp and Kalapatthar.

Kalapatthar is the famous vantage point of the Everest region which provides mesmerizing sights of the dazzling snow-covered peaks including Mt. Everest (Sagarmatha), Mt. Pumori, Mt. Cho Oyu, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, and more. We will hike there in the early morning so you can see the first sun rays of the day on the snowy giant Himalayas and be hypnotized by its magic.

Throughout your journey, you’ll be in the Sagarmatha National Park, protector of a unique and varied Himalayan landscape. Unique flowers and plant life are abundant, and you may encounter local wildlife, such as Himalayan Monal, Himalayan Black Bear, Snow Leopard, Yellow-billed chough, Red-billed chough, Musk Deer, Red Panda, Langurs, Martens, Himalayan Thar, and others. Sagarmatha National Park is also home to several endangered species and considered an important part of Nepalese Heritage & Culture.

On our second to last day of ascent, we will reach the splendor of EBC. It is an excellent place to immortalize your journey with breathtaking photos and celebrating with your group before hiking back down to sleep at Gorek Shep. “Hike high, and sleep low,” as the expert trekkers say, here at Step on Himalaya!

The next sunrise at Kalapatthar is not to be missed because you will enjoy the epic view as the sun comes up over Mt. Everest and its neighboring Himalayas. Leaving in the early hours of the morning, you will hike up to 5,545m (18,500ft). The distant avalanches, magnificent glaciers, surrounding vista, and alpine vegetation are heart-poundingly unique in their majesty as the sky lightens and the sun begins to warm the slopes of the mountains.

After the hike to Kalapatthar, you’ll begin your descent to the Lukla and then back to Kathmandu.
